June Barnett was born in Shropshire, England and came to Australia in 1953. She started painting in the early 1970’s and studied with Shirley Bourne for a number of years. Mainly an  oil painter, she has   practiced painting with water colours and pastels and at present is studying etching with Paul Slootsky. She has held exhibitions at various art societies and galleries and has taught at local art societies. She holds life drawing workshops at the Emerald Art Society.

June is a member of the Emerald Art Society and the Town and Country Painters, and  is represented in Private, Corporate and local Government Collections and in the Commonwealth Art bank.

In 1997, June was invited to join the Twenty Melbourne Painters Society. She says “I would like my paintings to speak for me”.
